Our client is an established charitable organisation working to support and help over 800 homeless young people in London each day. With services throughout London, they are looking to recruit two Service Managers for their hostels in Central London. You will have direct responsibility for managing up to 7 direct reports including Support and Development Workers through to Receptionists and administration staff.

The purpose of the role is:

To lead a team to excel in rent collection, minimise void loss through effective management of referrals and lettings, leading and managing an efficient and responsive maintenance service, scrutinize contractor performance to ensure that repairs are carried out in a professional and timely manner

To lead and manage a service, delivering a culture of excellence within this service and ensuring that the value of all invested assets - people, physical assets, financial assets and technology - are maximised for the benefit of young people and the charity.

To ensure that each young person receives a tailored, holistic and integrated package of support that is evidenced as required and ensures that the majority of young people achieve their desired and agreed outcomes by the time they leave our hostels.

Your key accountabilities will include:

To lead a service to meet contractual targets and objectives, supporting up to 100 young people performing highly to maximise revenue and minimise losses

To ensure that each young person has a tailored, holistic and up to date package of support, designed to give them the best chance of achieving desired outcomes

To work directly with young people and enable the staff to assess and help young people recognise their support needs and goals in the areas of personal and social development, practical support and life skills, physical and emotional health and learning and work

To manage financial plans and budgets ensuring that those plans are effectively implemented and through regular review of management accounts, ensure that budgets are delivered

To act as a learning mentor for young people, providing them with encouragement, support (both emotional and practical) and challenge to help them identify the actions and changes they need to make in order to meet their goals

To put in place local strategies to minimise rent arrears and bad debts by effective overall management of rental income. To ensure all Support and Development Workers collect rent and manage arrears effectively. To provide regular reports on arrears cases to senior staff

To attend weekly team meetings and review days as agreed with the Service Leader. To chair team meetings and review days in the absence of the Service Leader

To be involved in all policy decisions relevant to the Service and to take part in policy and planning matters of the Service and the organisation

To recruit, induct, manage and lead staff and volunteers ensuring that they are managed and supported to deliver the highest standard of service to homeless young people and their local community

To set clear standards, work plans and targets for staff and volunteers to monitor their performance through regular supervision

You will need to possess good management, verbal and written communication and time management skills, along with the ability to provide a highly performing housing management service. NVQ level 2 or 3 qualifications in Caring for Children and Young People, Housing, Community Justice and Community Work are desirable.

To be considered for this position, you must have a recent CRB and/ or must be willing to complete a new CRB check as well as having 3 years checkable references.
