There is nothing more rewarding than seeing people with long-term mental health problems gain increasing independence and develop their full potential - and that’s exactly what you will be helping with as a Housing Support Worker at our Manchester service. This dynamic service aims to provide practical and emotional support to women with mental health problems, particularly survivors of sexual abuse, so that they can continue to live independently in the community and sustain their tenancies.
This will include:
· Advising on tenancy issues, welfare benefits, financial and budgeting matters
· Working closely with service users to establish their tenancy, including appropriate practical aspects
· Providing practical advice and assistance in regaining and re-learning daily living skills
· Making sure clients are referred to appropriate agencies for advice and counselling.
About you:
· Experience of working within support or care setting with vulnerable people
· Experience of assessing and monitoring clients’ needs
· Knowledge of housing benefits
· A flexible, positive approach and excellent communication skills
· Strong motivational, negotiation and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work flexible hours
