Stockport Women s Aid offers support, advice and accommodation to women and children that have been affected by domestic violence and abuse.
They are currently looking for a Director to be responsible for the strategic development and operational management of Stockport Women s Aid and the support services they provide.
The key purpose of the post is to work to ensure that any woman or child affected by domestic abuse in Stockport is aware of and has access to appropriate specialist information, support, advocacy and refuge accommodation to meet their individual needs. It is the role of the Director to uphold, safeguard and promote the charity s values of social justice and anti-oppressive practice and feminist ethos of collaboration and partnership with the community, professional colleagues and service users.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Financial Management: Preparing and reviewing budgets based on forecast income and expenditure. As well as producing regular financial reports for funders, stakeholders and the Board of Trustees.
- Contract Management: Managing project activities, outcomes and financial activities in line with contractual agreements with funders and stakeholders.
- Business Planning and Project Development: Providing the lead on formulating and implementing the strategic direction of Stockport Women s Aid s service provision; maintaining existing provision and setting up new projects. Developing policy and procedure in line with quality assurance framework and best practice.
- Marketing, Fundraising and PR: Promoting awareness of domestic abuse issues and Stockport Women s Aid service provision to ensure high quality, accessible specialist services for women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse. Producing and implementing Marketing and Publicity strategy to raise awareness of domestic abuse. Producing grant applications, business cases and bids for funding opportunities as well as delivering presentations and training on domestic abuse issues and Stockport Women s Aid at various fora.
- Strategic Partnerships: Contributing to the strategic development of Stockport Partnership priorities via attendance/membership of Stockport Partnership Forum.
- Performance Management: Ensuring excellent standards of service provision across all adult and children s service areas working within the Supporting People QAF and similar quality assurance framework.
You will also be responsible for providing direct line management for Operation Managers as well as recruitment of staff, overseeing staff and training and development and overseeing performance management across the Stockport Women s Aid team.
Key Qualifications/Knowledge Required:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Knowledge and understanding of the legislative, political and social context in which Women s Aid operate.
- Knowledge of welfare rights, housing and legal options available for women and families affected by domestic abuse.
- Knowledge and commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and promotion to equal opportunities.
- Knowledge of financial planning, management and control mechanisms.
- Knowledge of the ‘Supporting People programme.
Experience Required:
- At least two years experience of organisational management within the voluntary sector, domestic abuse, social care, housing or related field.
- At least two years experience of staff management.
- Experience of fundraising from charitable and statutory sources.
- Building and developing successful strategic partnerships to enhance organisational development and service provision.
- Design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems to manage performance, including user involvement.
- Experience of successfully managing organisational change.
